My name is Dr. Brandi Baumkirchner, and I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida. I currently have a private practice in Boca Raton, Florida, where I see clients of all ages, from children to seniors, and provide individual, couples, and family psychotherapy. I earned my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, after obtaining a B.A. in psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Through the years, I have worked with a diverse group of children, adolescents, adults, and families in a range of settings, including residential and inpatient treatment centers, community clinics, university counseling centers, rape crisis centers, hospitals, high schools, and in private homes. Within these settings, I have provided culturally sensitive individual, group, couples, and family psychotherapy. Additionally, I have also offered crisis intervention, multidisciplinary consultation, multicultural sensitivity training, and outreach/community services.

You may be afraid to seek help for fear you are the “only one” with a certain difficulty. Thanks to my diverse training and employment experiences, I have knowledge and awareness about many different kinds of people and situations. Sometimes knowing this might help ease anxiety you may have about coming into therapy.

Yet, it is also important for you to know that I seek to understand what something is for you in particular, rather than simply “diagnose” or “label” you. I work to understand you and your strengths, dreams, and aspirations, as well as the things that might be troubling you. Paying close attention to your needs and challenges, I am highly vested and greatly value my profession and thus I practice with care. Should I feel that you need care or specialties that I cannot provide, I will not hesitate to get you to someone who can. Creating a safe space where you can share, discuss, even cry about things on your mind or difficulties you are having is my first goal. Working together and building trust over time will allow our sessions to become safe and you may be able to talk about things you perhaps never have. By examining them collaboratively, we may be able to put pieces together so they make sense to you, and you may better understand yourself, your feelings, and your world.

Many times it can make all the difference to have someone like myself, who is on the outside of your daily life, be interested and open to learning about you and truly wanting to understand and validate your experience.
